May Day or Mayday

May is the fifth month of the year, holding the numerological vibration of the number five. Jupiter rules number five, offering abundance, fortune, and excitement. Combined with the influence of Leo and Taurus and guided by the element air.

The 1st of May marks the Beltane festival for the northern hemisphere, and Samhain is celebrated on the 1st of May in the southern hemisphere. Dance, singing celebrating a new season carry a vibration of joy. May Day in the northern hemisphere has historically meant fun springtime activities, such as planting flowers, dancing around the maypole, and picnics. We recognize the budding of flowers; the chill of winter begins to leave the air, and we spend more time outside enjoying the increased light of day. May's energy can feel magically new and the opportunity for a second chance.

'Mayday' is also an internationally recognized distress signal. It also brings to mind the calling of an airplane pilot or captain of a ship to call for help. It can remind us of our call for help or the call to the Universe to step in. I recently felt this shout-out to the Universe when I was stuck for a bit in the desert of Joshua Tree with a flat tire. I was fine, and there was a bit of magic in the day, but it wasn't what I'd planned. I was reminded that The Universe had other plans, and I needed to realign with that plan.

What is our Mayday on this May Day? It's been a rough few months, and I'm hearing in my clients, family, and friends the fear and questions in their voices. The desire to slip into a place of ignoring, hiding, or disbelief, yet the Universe continues to force us to be present, aware, and address anything uncomfortable now. There is an urgency in the air. There is pressure to resolve before it goes too far or there is no return. Yet, we still hear the voices of those who want to defend what has happened or is happening. We are all impacted, we will forever be impacted. This is global, not just a United States event. Perhaps another smack from the Universe reminding us on our connectivity.

At the end of this month, Saturn also moves into Aries. It joins Neptune, Chiron, and Mercury. Saturn shows how we experience "reality," where we meet with resistance and discover our limitations. It represents the conscience and moral conviction, the laws and rules we choose to obey. It also tells us about our powers of endurance and the ability to concentrate, which causes us to be cautious or reserved.

Saturn is serious, and its role in astrology is to bring meaning and structure to our lives. The planet reminds us about the restrictions of matter and time and asks about our commitment, responsibility, and boundaries. The taskmaster Saturn represents discipline, labor, responsibility, dedication, and perseverance. It will show us where we face our greatest challenges, and sitting in Aries, the IAM energy will challenge us for our freedoms and our responsibilities and urge us to enforce or reset boundaries of what we will tolerate or won't tolerate. We are ready for spring, grass, joy, calm, warmer weather, and peace. We're already tired of the drama, trauma, and shock factor. I'm tired of the intensity of energy and look forward to the time when it lightens and we feel joy again.  To help navigate this practice of self-care, take frequent breaks, but don't drown yourself in global events. Find your place of hope and send the Maydays to the Universe for peace, calm, balance, a better world, and a better way of getting to a better world. Remind yourself that in this life, we have the power to vocalize and change the path we are on. Though we carry seven generations of DNA, and our ancestors have created many pathways, we must recognize that not all those pathways are right. We must make better paths for us and the generations ahead.

I wish you all peace, harmony, clarity, and the opportunity to develop your knowledge in a way that aligns with more humanity, collaboration, connectedness and is LOVE based. Don't be distracted from core truth. Being clear with the seeds you plant and those place, things, relationships you nurture will build the foundation you are seeking.

Be blessed. Be joyful. Shine ON!  ~Laurie 💖
