A beginner and freedom to be limitless

About a month ago I found myself with a sudden urge to learn something new and be creative about what I was learning.   I know that when I allow myself to be in space of relaxation and openness, my creative energies flow. I tap into something higher, brighter or beyond me, clarity comes and message flow freely. This day I wanted a more earthy experience.   I’d always loved the sound of a didgeridoo and flute and I thought either would be wonderful additions to the sound healing work I do.  I goggled didgeridoo classes in the area and found someone does classes and private lessons, and as divine timing there was a class in a few weeks.  I found an inexpensive bamboo didgeridoo online and ordered it.   When it arrived I had a few days to play with it before my actual class. I was determined to get more than the sputtering noises from it prior to my class. My poor kids, my poor pets.  feathers

My first attempts on the instrument had me laughing until tears streamed down my face. Oh my gosh the awful sounds I was making.   I remained determined to put aside the giggles, embarrassment, beliefs it was ‘too hard’, and get down to serious focus. Thank goodness for Youtube videos, I didn’t feel quite so alone in my attempts to learn.   Meeko the kitty and Toby the dog had already taken refuge in some other place in the house far away from my sputtering sounds.

I picked up the didgeridoo each evening after my day was coming to a close, and after a few days, I was able to get beautiful sound from this 4 foot beautiful piece of bamboo. I felt limitless.   I was nowhere near the level to play in public, but in my office, now with Toby at my feet, and Meeko on my desk there was new vibrational calmness in the air.

I can’t remember when I first heard the message to ‘keep learning’, nor from which angel, but it has stuck with me. We all need newness in our lives from time to time and we usually convince ourselves we are too busy, or we can’t afford, or we simply don’t know how, and probably a hundred other reasons that prevent us from challenging ourselves to keep learning.

If we change jobs, or take on new responsibilities, we are forced into learning new skills, responsibilities and other things that are often give to us to learn without choice.   It’s different when we get to choose what we might like to learn, experience, or sample. We are in an experiential world, so we are all about experiencing and learning from our experiences.   We can learn from observation, but we usually have deeper emotional learning by experiencing. We have freewill and freedom of choice to how we might challenge ourselves, and many of us don’t exercise this freedom or this opportunity to learn about ourselves through learning something new. We remain stagnant in our lives and staying within boundaries we believe hold us back.

As I began to play the didgeridoo, I observed myself relax as I transitioned from my work day to rest time, or ‘play’ time.   A few minutes with this magical instrument and I felt my mind relax, and then my body relax, and then my emotions shift.   All within only a few moments.   The first few sounds from the bamboo where still a few sputters and odd noises, but with practice, I could find my grove with the instrument.   I no longer giggled with those early sounds, the animals no longer ran for the other room, and I used those odd sputtering noises as guides to whether I was getting closer to the tones, or needed more adjustments.

This July month celebrate your limitless, your freedom in choice and challenge your boundaries. We are limitless, and when we believe we have limits, they show up. When we believe we have the ability to remove any limits and become limitless, we become unstoppable.   Our experiences and challenges may be small as in playing a new instrument, or they may be large life changing events but if believe you can, and you keep moving in that direction, small steps may turn to larger experiences.

We have a new moon on July 4,   that has a powerful force to it for us to bring wisdom to where we have been, and where we are yet to go. The emotional changes many of us have experienced have led to removal of roadblocks, boundaries and allowing something new to arrive.   Now is a great time to allow ‘new’ to arrive.

My suggestion is to LEARN and to play while you learn. Find something to push your boundaries about what you can or can’t do and try it.   Try it to learn, grow, and just to experience the process of learning.
